Unlike the Ivy League, the ACC athletics affiliation has little impact on academics. Maryland just left the ACC and the two were involved in a pretty nasty legal battle. However, that did absolutely nothing to weaken Maryland's academic partnership with VT.

Such a blurring of missions, like what you are describing is why the ACC is becoming a second tier league. The conference should be clear about it's goals. The ACC should be focused on winning as many games as possible while making as much money as possible. And they should be doing so within current NCAA rules.


It's an athletics conference first and foremost.
